Time to say 'goodbye' ...

After nearly 30 years of hard work and bliss, the time has come to say "farewell" to our little place of heaven.

We purchased our 20 acres of bush way back in 1990, and have slowly built it up to be the loveliness that it now is.

But it's now for sale :-(

Why?  Because although we love it, we've decided to move a bit closer in to town.

More details will be posted soon.

So where is it ?

The property is located roughly midway between Ararat and Avoca, at the foot of the Pyrenees Ranges.

It's totally surrounded by State Forest and/or Crown Land.

It's unique !

What's the house like ?

It's a lovely little two-bedroom cedar-clad weatherboard house.

It has a separate bathroom/WC and separate laundry.

All plumbing was professionally done, and drains to a septic tank, with a full 3 x 75m = 225m of run-off/absorption trenches.  In other words, there is capacity designed into the system for four people to live on-site full-time.

There is a 9,000 litre house tank, plus a further two 10,000 litre tanks filled from the garage.  There is also a 3,500 litre tank filled from the woodshed roof - the woodshed tank is for the garden, and we top it up from time to time by pumping up from the dam.

We have chosen not to be on the electricity grid (although it's available only 300m from the front door).  Power to the house is provided by a small generator that we use mainly at nighttime.

Heating is by a slow combustion wood-burning Masport unit, that performs incredibly well - and one thing we are not short of at Nowhere Creek is wood to burn.

Here's a plan that shows the original design.  We made a couple of very small modifications as it was being built, but it's essentially accurate.

Apart from the house, we have a full-size garage, complete with a separate informal bunkroom that sleeps four people.
